The FHB pneumatic disc brakes from Eaton Airflex has introduced new technology to disc brake design that is called the Floating Housing Brake (FHB). It is a spring-applied and air‐cooled disc brake that's suited for surface mining, oilfield and other heavy duty industrial machinery applications.

This new Airflex disc brake design has a long friction life and is supplied with long wearing and organic friction material plus a rugged solid-cast rotating disc to offer a lower inertia than your typical caliper brakes.

It's rated for over 430,000 lb‐in of torque.

Offers a patented braking concept that uses a floating housing instead of a floating rotor.

Offer brake installation designs that exist for industry leading motors.

It has a fixed hub and rotor design.

Some benefits include the FHB disc brakes ability to change the friction pads - thus reducing downtime from 3 hours to 1 hour. With its elimination of spline tooth or gear wear it lowers maintenance costs. It offers faster/safer installation with a shaft lock assembly for ease of mounting and removal. While the fact it offer almost no wear during free wheeling give you a high product life.

Airflex's FHB disc brake is also designed for non‐cyclic brake engagement that need a higher speed operation or when a precise balance of the rotating components is required.

Its solid rotor and stationary friction material will give the same torque in each rotation direction. The disc is mounted on the shaft that's to be stopped while the brake assembly is attached to the machine frame.
