Heavy Duty Clutch Mechanisms with Couplings
Heavy Duty Clutch Mechanisms with Couplings
Operation
- Friction type heavy duty clutch mechanism engages with air pressure, spring released when air is exhausted
- Torque is linear in response to air pressure applied
Mounting
- Set screws and customer supplied key connect the heavy duty clutch mechanism to one shaft and the coupling hub to a fully supported second shaft
- Shafts must be accurately aligned to prevent premature failure
- Anti-rotation arm required to prevent rotation of the air housing
- Heavy duty clutch mechanisms are designed for horizontal mounting. If vertical mounting is required, consult engineering for options
- Note: Heavy Duty Clutch Mechanism DOES NOT support coupling
Applications
- Heavy duty clutch mechanisms are suitable for cycling applications connecting and disconnecting two fully supported shafts
- Maximum RPM varies by model. Please consult the detail sheets (below). Consult engineering if the intended application exceeds the listed maximum RPM.
Design Features
- Both heavy duty clutch mechanism and coupling bored to suit up to the maximum shown (US & Metric) to accept differing shaft sizes
- Splined drive and toothed friction discs for heavy duty service
- Available with either high or low* coefficient friction linings for same price
