Mach III make products for a host of applications including the aerospace industry, the food processing industry, and for such machines as accumulating conveyors, label-printing presses, glass-tempering machinery, laminating machines, and many more.

The company were formed in the early 1960s by Raleigh Becknell who made small pneumatic clutches. In 1973, Mr Raleigh's son, Michael Becknell, joined the company who were by now also manufacturing clutch/brake combinations for the conveyor industry. In the 1980s the company became incorporated and were officially called Mach III Clutch, Inc.

Over the next 20 years they continued to innovate and expand into world markets. By the year 2000 Michael Becknell was President after his father's retirement. A year later Mach III patented their SensiFlex® tension control clutch and brake, which was designed by Ron Ashbrook. Tragically, in the year 2002  Michael Becknell died and Lesli Riehemann was made President. To keep the family tradition in place the company gave the Vice Presidency to David Becknell.
